Christmas has come early for the lucky few who have acquired a chance to score one of the most prestigious awards any musician can ask for, need a clue? The grammy’s of course! The complete list of nominees was released this morning in all 84 categories and it totally gave me the “did I make it on the list?” vibe. If you’re unable to understand why the Grammy’s are so highly regarded allow me to explain. The Grammy’s is basically the olympics for musicians, without all the live competition. And just like the olympics acknowledges damn near every sport, the Grammy’s leaves no musical category behind. I mean, they even have a category dedicated only to the best of the best surround sound albums. Don’t worry though, they only televise the categories that people actually care about. When the Canadian rapper Drake warned us to prepare for summer 16, he wasn’t kidding. Not only did he have major success with his latest album Views, he even scored a sizzling hot summer romance with the superstar Rihanna. Alas, just like their previous go at a relationship, this attempt has sadly ended. Allegedly, anyways.
It looks like Kim Kardashian just exposed Taylor Swift on Snap Chat and I must say I would love to see how this plays out. Back in February when Kanye released his album ” The Life of Pablo” he directed some rauchy lyrics towards Taylor in his track “Famous”: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous,” Kanye raps in the song’s opening verse. He goes on, “For all the girls that got dick from Kanye West/ If you see ’em in the streets give ’em Kanye’s bests/ Why? They mad they ain’t famous/ God damn/ They mad they’re still nameless.”
Now this would be pretty insulting if Kanye didn’t already have Taylor’s approval to release the track, despite the lyrics, Right? Around this time one of Taylor’s representatives released the following statement: “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous”…..
After I nearly had a heart attack and a stroke simultaneously during the Warriors VS Cavaliers final game, social media was split with support for LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry. As I stumbled across crying LeBron memes and the awkward silence from Ayesha Curry on Twitter……I found Rihanna on Instagram trolling Steph Curry and being overly supportive of her “bae”, LeBron. Let us not forget that LeBron has been married to his high school sweetheart, Savannah, since 2013 and they have three children together. How does an openly single woman in Hollywood have the audacity to call a married man “BAE”, joke or not via social media. If your man was approached by an attractive woman, like Rihanna, would you give him a hall pass to cheat?
One of our last wishes in 2015 was to have the queen herself Rihanna dominate the airwaves with new music; although that never happened, she finally decided to bless us in 2016 with a brand new album. Unlike her previous albums that competed with the best musicians in the world (as far as radio play) this album screamed a big “F” you to every radio station and main stream outlet she could think of. She basically gave zero f*cks about her fans ever hearing her on the radio again because we more than likely won’t, with her indie approach to her latest album Anti.
